Fall /autumn in the White Mountains

It is one year since we purchased our chalet in New Hampshire, and earlier in the month we attended the annual meeting of the homeowners association.  It was a rainy Saturday, so we were happy to spend a few hours meeting our neighbours and figuring out how to ensure that all the houses in the association can rely on having fresh water and clear views for many years to come.

On Saturday afternoon the skies cleared and we set to work creating a drain/soak-away outside the back door to prevent a repeat of the basement flooding that we had last year.  This was duly completed before nightfall and we celebrated with a homecooked meal of stuffed peppers (from the garden at Hangman Hill).  On Sunday the weather was much nicer, so we took a short hike to the top of Iron Mountain to enjoy the views of the New England countryside with the leaves changing color all around us.
